Compassionate counselling for a brighter future.
Oh love- I'll get you a brew. Sound familiar? As much as I love a good cup of tea, it doesn't fix everything. I work in a person-centred way, collaborating with my clients (usually with a brew in hand!) to explore your unique experiences, relationships or trauma- we can focus on your healing goals; perhaps improving current relationships, learning to understand & embrace your ADHD or Autism, or simply being able to tell your own powerful story in a safe non-judgemental space. I offer support in healing from abusive relationships, including coercive control, physical abuse and sexual abuse.
I primarily work with clients with ADHD & Autism. During our initial sessions, we will look at both past and present experiences with a neurodivergent lens, identifying areas in which you may struggle and looking at what can be put in place to support you while also affirming your neurotype- ultimately gaining a gradual sense of understanding, self-acceptance and confidence. I have completed ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP) training. I am also undertaking Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist Intensive Training (ASDCS).
I also have lived experience in this area.
My trauma informed counselling service can help you overcome the effects of traumatic events, helping you heal from the psychological impact of trauma, including PTSD (& CPTSD), anxiety, and depression. I provide a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your experiences and develop strategies to move forward.
I have extensive experience working with survivors of Domestic Abuse and Sexual Abuse including those who are currently going through the court process. I can help you with psychoeducation (including the healing journey, window of tolerance, identifying your triggers etc) I also have experience working with historic sexual abuse and can help support you to process and work through your experiences at your own pace.
I also have experience working with issues around grief, anxiety, depression, coming to terms with physical or mental health conditions, recovering from addiction and much more.
Whatever has brought you to therapy, I work with clients on an open ended basis- meaning that the counselling slot is yours for as long as you want it (I normally recommend a minimum of 6 sessions).
I want you to feel comfortable in sessions, as you speak about some potentially very uncomfortable topics, so if you want to come in to session in pyjamas? Please do. If you want to talk about the film you watched or the book you read that really had an impact on you? Absolutely tell me about it as we make our way up to the therapy room.
Ultimately at the core of the therapeutic relationship is human connection, so if you feel like you connect what what you have read here, and want to work together- please get in touch.
